put walnuts in the oatmeal and it will help even it out.
i tried nuts... just slowed down the insanity
Dear Lev

Eat only the walnuts they are diabetic friendly. skip the oatmeal.
Sad, but true: I LOVE oatmeal on a cold winter morning But it spikes me. Wish I could eat it.
but I don't... Now I do love walnuts and cashews and pecans, and just a few fill me up!!!

Pasta does the same thing for me. I used to bolus for it, crash an hour later and treat the low, then be crazy high a few hours later. Finally figured out that that I just seem to digest pasta slowly (maybe because it's low GI?). So now I do a combo bolus on my pump, take about 50% of the bolus and spread the rest over about 3.5 hours. THat seems to be working. I was glad to have figured this out because I LOVE pasta!
The SAME thing happens with me with oatmeal!! It's so weird. I will be sky high then drop like a rock in a matter of 30 minutes!
To all who replied, many thanks for your inputs and informations....again, thanks!!!!
Coffee Jelly Frappuccino by Starbucks. Shoots it up well beyond 240!
Rice. My system metabolizes rice like it was little kernals of sugar. If i try and bolus for it, I crash later. So i just don't eat it.
for me it's pizza, hands down. it's like lays potato chips, i can't eat just one slice.
I have a really tough time with french fries. I think it has something to do with that fact that they are deep fried.
On the contrary - deep frying should retard absorption because of all the oil (fat). I would predict that if you take an equal amount of baked potato chips and french fries, you would end up reaching your peak faster with the baked potato than the fried potato.
