What is your most "forbidden" food that makes your bs out of whack?

For me, the soft, hot, sticky, white steamed rice....it makes my bs level to go up to almost 400....yikes!

the reason your BG rises after two hours is because of the fat in the cheese. if you're on a pump, i suggest trying a dual-wave bolus: the initial bolus for the carbs of the pizza and the second 'square' section, your basal rate stretched over three-four hours. So you'll initially get enough insulin to cover the carbs and over the next 3-4 hours, you'll receive your normal basal rate plus the rate stretched 3-4 hours. Here's an example

2 slices pizza= approx. 60g. carb = 4 units of insulin + .5 units over 3 hours + .5 units/hour (basal).

As a type 1, my pizza solution (which took me 20 years to figure out) is to (1) add about 2 additional units beyond the known carb count, (2) extend part of my bolus (usually those 2 units) out for 3.5 hours, and (3) check often. I find I can have three ridiculously cheesy/fatty slices and not top 120. If I don't do it this way though, the fat hits me at about 5-6 hours post-meal and I have highs that copious amounts of insulin do nothing to control. Because pizza is so bad for you though, in general, I have it only every few months.

For type 2s, I recommend finding thin crust, low-fat, low-carb (where possible) pizzas. I'm sure it's not the same, but it's definitely preferable to adding those fat grams and carbs into your body. I'm convinced the human system was not meant to digest the stuff. :)

Pizza has a number of no noes in it. White flour.sugar and fat{cheese)' This triad is deadly. I know . I had 4 slices tonight.You don't see an quick elevation in your BG but the next morning,look out,the sky is the limit. I suggest you take a dose of insulin as if you ate dinner,and another 5-8 units of Lantus or whatever long term insulin you may have.Good Luck! Like Malissa said." Oh my don't let me start! But here it goes...

Pizza, Donuts, Ice Cream, Watermelon, Honeydew, Grapes, Apple pies, Pastries, Rice, Cakes, Pineapple.....etc

I can't live without those!!! LOL and my problem is that I LOVE FOOD and enjoy dining while trying new things every now and then!! Am a BAD D person!!!!

Thai food makes me BS go nuts :(

And I love having a scone with a cup of coffee and doing the crossword puzzle but it hits my blood stream so quickly that my mind goes fuzzy and I can't even do the crossword!

poptarts and donuts...that makes sleepovers hard...what else would some 15 year old girls eat at breakfast?

Hot steamed buttery rolls. Yummmm! They make my sugars go up like bamm! The worst drink on me of course is orange juice. I love it so and miss it so much.

Any kind of potato chip, tortilla chip, goldfish or preztels. I think it is because it is so easy to overeat. I'll be at 200-300 for hours before I come down. They are addictive. What's carb addict to do.

for me it's chocolate. i love chocolate especially those symphony bars. yum, but since i got on the pump i can't have chocolate like i used to.

Cereal, any kind, cooked, refined, whole grain, you name it, and I am up around 300....sigh.
