What's the craziest thing you have ever had to eat to get your blood sugar up?

I quit using glucose tabs a long time ago...just couldn't take the taste anymore. I usually have juice at home and use sport gels when out. But between me and my daughter (who also has type 1) we have had a few occasions where we were caught without enough glucose tabs or juice and have had to resort to whatever we could get our hands on. One time we were caught in a traffic jam for four hours and had already used our sugar stores during our pumpkin hunting that day. We were getting pretty nervous after about two hours, having already cut back on the basal, when my daughter continued to go lower and lower. I was just about to begin wandering through the line of cars to see if anyone had any juice boxes...when a couple of kids came wandering down the roadside offering apples and cookies for sale!

So, have you ever had to resort to something out of the ordinary in the heat of the battle?

peanut butter, right out of the jar with a spoon, was a favorite while in college. I've also, sad to say, smoked a cigarette to get a small boost in BG before I could get to some carbs. That would bump me up 10 or 20 points. I've also done the old, half-drank soda/juice in the backseat of the car bit. Gross, but you can't really taste anything while low anyways. Kind of a catch-22... when we can feel free (well, to 15g) to eat carby things, we can't taste any of it!

Once, shortly after Dx, ate a whole box of cheez-its while having an overnight low at field hockey camp. I don't think I brought any juice with me to treat. I'm surprised I didn't pass out with all that running around.
A glass of milk with probably 10 teaspoons of sugar. All I know is I really felt like crap afterwords.
I gave my daughter plain frosting to eat once. Being 7 years old, she loved it, but I couldn't imagine eating straight frosting.
Done the straight frosting a few times.
No so much strange but strange for me. I have never enjoyed fruit but a few weeks ago went into the 40s while at the store and I don't know why but those peaches looked really good and tasty, ok they did taste good.
Sitting naked in front of my refrigerator drinking a bottle of BBQ Sauce is about as strange as it gets for me.
Reading through these and think yours is my fav Seth! I snorted.
Snatched a snicker bar from a bystander at a soccer match ( I was the goal keeper) xD
I guess going low during a move is kind of a theme here. Happened to me during our move. My husband ran to the neighbors and grabbed the first thing he knew was sugar loaded - grape jelly,
Ha ha! Some introduction to the new neighbours! Hope you get on alright now!
I share a bday with a friend. We celebrated with a fun day of shopping and met our hubs later for dinner. I gorked big time. . My fast carb supply was low to start with and it was one of those that ripped through my remaining stash and just kept on going.

I poured honey on my baked potato and just started snarfing. I wondered later why I just didn't eat the honey directly from the squeeze bottle or squeeze it into a spoon. I guess I thought that might look odd.
Not as odd as honey on a baked potato!
