Very interested in this...
As read in Maclean's Canada's National magazine , page 13, January 7 , 2013 edition " Myth buster .The chairman of the U.S. Federal Communications Commision has urged the Federal Aviation Admin to finally let passengers use electronic devices during take off and landing ...etc. etc. FAA is now reviewing its policies etc. etc.
My question and observation to Dr. Kaufman as a MM GCMS user and occasional aircraft user : I , as advised by MM Canada, turned off my sensor while in an aircraft, what would you advise with this latest Myth Buster ??? ...I will be flying on Jan 30 , 2013 .Thank You
Canadian question # 2 : I signed an agreement with MM Canada for a loaner pump , while visiting the US soon . The Travel Loaner Agreement states ...if the pump is not returned ( within the specific time) Medtronic will apply a replacement cost of $ 4,995.00 to our credit card ..that is not what my Veo cost ( Feb 2011 ) Pacific Blue Cross paid the " customary " $ 6,600.00 and we paid $ 400,00 . ...where do these dollar figures appear from ?? I decided NOT to ask MM Canada till the Loaner is returned ..." letting sleeping dogs lie" :)
Canadian question # 3 : as a Sure -T user for several years I every so often ASK the MM Rep .,I meet at CDA's Expo's and /or CDA's Professional Conferences or call MM Canada ( as recent as 2 weeks ago ) ...when will I be able to order 42 " tubing instead of the 23 " tubing I use . Can you please explain the reason ?? Response from MM Canada has never been satisfactory . Health Canada sitting on the fence; will the Canadian Market not bear it ??
This one an observation and would like it addressed if possible .I was told and shown at the CDA's Professional Conference , October 2011 in Toronto , Canada at the MM booth the Enlite Sensor . Saw it in Vancouver, at the Professional Conference , October 2012 at the MM booth ...Health Canada sitting on it ??? Did read the submission by MM at the Conference about the improvements .Does MM remind Health Canada every so often ?? The cost of over CAN $ 50,00 per sensor , of which in my experience I do NOT get benefits for 6 days is becoming an exhorburant( sp ??) cost for the general public .
Been having "weak signal" problems on the Medtronic CGM... what elements in my environment might be causing this? Is it really Wi-Fi and cell phones doing it?
When does she think CGM technology will get good enough that it can completely replace fingersticks ? 2 years ? 5 years ? 10 years?
WHY does it cost more to get your pump supplies from a larger company? when you can get them 1/4 of the price out of pocket at other places?
and is there not better CGM that fits a small frame person with less discomfort? 6 foot and 140 lbs not much meat for a CGM.
I absolutely love my medtronic insulin pump with the integrated CGM! I also enjoy the features of other insulin pumps on the US market. Has medtronic thought of creating a tubeless insulin pump or any other specific features such as an integrated Blood Glucose meter? (similar to the Omnipod system)
Aslo, will she take resumes for job offers? I'm a recent college grad looking for a great job! ;-) here is my email: firstname.lastname@example.org
I would love to know what Dr. Kaufman's thoughts are regarding stem cell research and diabetes.
Particularly, injecting stem cells into the pancreas. "Dr Ilia Banakh and Professor Len Harrison... have not only identified and isolated stem cells from the adult pancreas, but developed a technique to drive these stem cells to become insulin-producing cells that can secrete insulin in response to glucose."
Also, Dr. K's accomplishments should include inventing Extend Bar. Keep up the great work Dr. Kaufman :-)
