Whats the most annoying comment you've ever gotten about diabetes?

I've gotten quite a lot of really annoying and sometimes even hurtful comments about my diabetes...

When i told a family friend who (by the way) is an assistant nurse about my condition she said "really? but you will get better right? it will go away when you start taking care of yourself?"
and i said "no, i will always be a diabetic and i will actually get worse since my body will eventually stop producing insulin all together"
and she still kept insisting that I would get better in time and that my condition would go away...

i couldnt believe she knew so little

there arent many things people say that annoy with this, but i find that when i am on a night out and there happens to be a doctor hanging out, they always want to know what my blood sugar is when im testing. the er doctor we were with last night actually LEANED OVER into my personal space to steal a glance at my meter. (f*ck off please) these arent my doctors, we´re on a night out, we´re talking about the concert weve just been to and then theyre all doctor-y and i feel a little judged. really weird.

Yes. That kind of intrusive rudeness certainly would plug me in.

yeah, i just dont understand it. when im not at work im not talking about grammar all the time! i thought at first it was just this one guy, but anytime i hang out with anyone who Works in the medical field, they think they have the right to know. saying that, after having taught primary aged children, i am the first to correct other childrens behaviour on the Street. maybe i should give these medical people a break...i dont know ;)

Could be that they're truly interested. I would imagine most docs don't get an opportunity to see T1 in the real world. Still annoying, but maybe it comes from a good place.

American doctors usually have a cow when they see my Canadian numbers. Divide yours by 18 to get Canadian numbers. It's because we can't count very high....lol!

It is rather worrying that American doctors don't know how the rest of the world measure blood glucose. The rest of the world know that Americans do it differently.

here in spain we do it the same as americans.
