I have decided that it's time I try a low carb diet and have learned by reading this site that Dr Bernstein's book is the best place to start. I went to Amazon.Com to order it and I found that he has 2 books for sale. His newest book appears to be an update of the older. My question is do I need to start with the older book or can I skip it and go directly to the latest publication.

Thanks Alan, That's what I thought. I wanted to be sure I would not miss anything important by skipping the first book.

Don't bother buying his The Diabetes Diet. The recipes are boring. An abundance of LC recipe sites with far better.

The new addition (Nov. '12) is extensively revised and has more pages, so make sure you get that one. Agree with others the recipe book is nothing to write home about.

Thanks for the replies. I was under the impression that his book is the best place to start. Am I wrong?

I think his book is indeed the best place to start. He explains how your body works with diabetes and thus the reasons for his recommendations. I don't have any problem staying on the diet because it works.

+1, again LOL
