I recently started pumping and got a CGM system too, but when I went to order the sof-sensors for my Medtronic CGM the medical supply company (Edgepark) told me that the sensors are going to be $70.00 a box!! That is on top of all the other supplies I have to buy. Does anyone know how you can get them cheaper or what you have to do to get your insurance company to cover them at a higher rate? I don't know how people afford to buy them.

I think the problem is there are too few competitors in the market: dexcom and medtronic.
Abbott is almost out of market for their choice.

Yeah. I ran into the same issue and it was one of the reasons I stopped using a CGM. I felt pumping was more important and between cost and scar tissue, I just didn't feel the CGMs had an accuracy that made them worth it. You may find the CGM is more useful for periodically helping to identify trends and patterns. Using it on an as-needed basis might save money.

I think the lack of competition and deals that insurance companies make with distributors has something to do with the lack of competitive pricing. I know that I only have one option for getting all my supplies (Liberty).

That's not a bad price $7.00 each and if you get 6 days out of the sensor that's $1.16 a day. The sensor market is small and the manufacturer is loseing money every time they sell one but someday there will be enough users and the sensor market will stop running in the red. I would not hold my breath for cheaper prices, it's a medical product.
