Woman's Day, one of the most popular magazines in the U.S., is looking for two women between the ages of 25 and 50 who made a "buddy pact" to beat diabetes together--and who stuck with it and saw their health improve. They contacted Diabetes Hands Foundation because they would like to profile this pair for a piece in the magazine!
Anyone here fit the bill and want to get in touch with them? Write a comment below and I can connect you :)

Permalink Reply by Peetie on August 10, 2012 at 6:03am Hi Emily. As a T2, I have had no problems finding other T2s to support me. My aunt taught me the "eat to the meter" approach, my brother and I attended a support group and tested together, I have had T2 neighbours who have worked with me and I have several gym buddies with Type 2. The problem is that diabetes is different for everyone and it is difficult to buddy with someone and get the same result. If they are looking for a "Biggest Loser" cure story it is unlikely that they would find it on here. Most of the T2s on here struggle despite their best efforts and, even those who do manage without meds, are on restricted diets. (I think)
If they are looking for those who have improved their health, you might want to look to some of the teams. I would think that some of the participants buddy up and achieve improved health.
I don't know if they are locked into this concept, and I agree that it is much more likely with Type 2's than Type 1's, but another possibility would be to look to ongoing support groups where members provide ongoing influence, support, information and community (and perhaps some do connect ongoing outside the group).
