Leading up to World Diabetes Day (Nov. 14), we are preparing a project called "Word In Your Hand" . It's VERY EASY to participate.

1) Write a word in your hand describing how you feel about diabetes.
2) Take a photo, showing the hand with the word.
3) Add it to the Photos here in TuDiabetes.
4) Enter the tag "word" to the photo.

Optional (for people with Flickr accounts):
5) If you have a Flickr account, join the TuDiabetes.com group there (http://www.flickr.com/groups/tudiabetes/) and add the photo to the TuDiabetes.com Pool (read instructions on how to do it, here).

6) Last, post a reply in this topic when you are done adding the photo either to TuDiabetes Photos or to Flickr.

It doesn't matter where you take the picture. It can be in your kitchen, office, garden, who cares? Just tell the world how you feel and help spread awareness about Diabetes.

The goal is to collect as many photos as possible. They will become a part of a video we will produce to be pushed through as many possible media outlets leading up to World Diabetes Day.

MUSICIANS IN THE COMMUNITY
Please contact me (manny at tudiabetes dot org) to let me know if you want to contribute a song to go with the video.

If you can help spread the word about the project, feel free to reuse the banner Andreina created for it:

As we come closer and closer to the World Diabetes Day (Nov. 14), in our fifth week we received many more really cool photos. It is amazing to see how our creativity level raised every week!

Please, don’t stop submitting your photos if you still want to express how diabetes has touched your life… the TuDiabetes.com Flickr group will continue to be open, so feel free to add any diabetes-related photos you want to it. However, from this point on, any further submissions to the "Word in Your Hand" project will not be considered for Photo of the Week OR for being included on the video that will be produced in the course of this coming week.

Thanks to EVERYBODY who contributed their photos. We already have the music for the video (composed specially by TuDiabetes member Albert Chen): We all have a great work to be proud of, to help us raise awareness about diabetes around the world.

As always, it was been very difficult to select the winners. Here are the results for our last week of giveaways. Cheers!

The fifth Photo of the Week winner is Linda Spinda, with the word "Habit". Linda has submitted many photos to the project, and they are all wonderful. We are very happy to have her as the winner of this last week. Thank you!!

Hi, thanks for choosing my hand as the winner! I'm really amazed it was me because all the hands were so great!
:( i wish i had found this community in time to send in a pic :(
i had 3 ideas for photos i wanted to do, but my camera stopped cooperating :(
1st: two hands holding diabetic supplies, needles, etc..,wrists In handcuffs... or tied in thick rope. Titled: Restricted

2nd: arm hanging over edge of wall/table or edited to show tall building..two delicate fingers holding tubing/string of dangling pump.. showing sign on back of pump " LIFE" . Titled: "Determination"

3rd: picture facingback of hand#1 Titled: "...Patience". with clock face balancing on thumb, held upright by index finger, 2nd hand facing open with stoplight drawn on middle finger, 'red light 'is actually pricked finger -dripping blood, palm holding BG meter showing low BG number, Jug of Orange juice and glass appear slightly fuzzy in background.

If anyone wants to try out my ideas and or modify.., you are welcome to them! :)

I managed to get one pict salvaged though...
