Blindsided by DKA November 2015. No previous diabetes diagnoses. I was classified as a Type2 with complications. I'm a little overweight, but have been riding bicycles for over 20 years. I have always been careful about my diet and have never eaten lots bad food. I did use to carb load before some of my 60 to 100 mile bike rides. And of course drank gallons of Gatorade each year. But, I don't think any of that had me destined for T2'ness. I must be a LADA inspite of what my GP Doc seems to think. I have yet to see an Endocrinologist. I use insulin 4 times a day. Basal at night, Bolus before each meal. My sugars are stable most of the time unless I eat Chinese food or Pizza ! I'm interested in using an Insulin Pump but the cost is megastrophic! Unbelievable! $4600 for a pump and $1500 a year to use it. Cheers!
