Danny, Try keeping it in a warm inside pocket of a jacket or you can also put a hand warmer into your meter's case on a really cold day. If I am testing and am getting a thermometer sign showing that the meter is too cold - I will either put it under my arm pit or pop the battery out - warm it between my hands - and reinsert it. Then it usually works fine. Try some of those if you haven't already.
