OK, this is huge and I want everyone to help fight this now.
I was approved by my insurance for the usual five boxes of sets and cartridges.
I called the supplier to find out why that had gone down to exactly three for 90 days. She said I was approved for five boxes.
The lady conferenced me in to an Animas rep.
His name is Chris.
He told me Animas has been audited by the governement and sets can no longer be issued in large quantities.
You can no longer, according to him, order too many boxes of sets or cartridges.
Apparently five is too many. My order, and I have not ordered for six months, was changed to three.
You can get a special deal from your doctor if you need it, but otherwise no they are limiting orders.
He stated Animas will be shut down if they do not comply.

I stated three boxes per month is not sufficient to cover supplies if you need spares.
The Carecentrix representative told me and get this:

The reason you have a trainer come out and give you pump training is so you wont have any bad sets.

Animas said "If you have a bad set, we want it sent back for examination."

I said what about your cat eating the tubing? What about hitting muscle and destroying sets? What about air bubbles and tossing sets for that? There are many instances when people need more sets. The Animas agent Chris admitted that was true, the Carecentrix rep said no that isnt true. She kept referring to that is why you get trained, so you dont ruin sets. I asked her if she had ever lived with sets and been limited in the number. She said yes. I doubt it.

I was treated rudely by her not Anims necessarily , I was told I wasnt listening and treated like I did not know what I was talking about.
You can see a discussion I had yesterday, where this has happened to at least one other member of this group.
I was told by the supplier I needed to talk to her patient advocate because of my not listening and my behavior. Finally they let me talk and I told them a whole country full of diabetic pumpers who use Animas, will not be happy with this. If this is the new rule, I hope all of you will get out and make phone calls.
Btw, my local reps reaction was oh, thanks for telling me what you are dealing with. That is it. Mind you yesterday an insurance person from Animas wrote me an Email and told me my doctor had made the change in amounts, not Animas.
I am literally shaking. I cant believe it, and even more so I cannot believe Carecentrix would treat me like I dont know what I am doing.
To even suggest that training from the pump company prevents bad sets, is beyond me. Truly beyond me. I will most likely never qualfiy for financial assistance now, because these people are so rude to me. And I dont trust Animas anymore, because no one was straight with me from there either.

I hope Animas is monitoring this site and is listening to input. Unfortunately, I doubt that they are. I sent them a long list of what is wrong with their pump ... mostly software stupidities. 6000 button pushes for simple functions. My complaints are somewhere on this site and with my endo who read it and fired me. I think she felt threatened but shouldn't have. I have to believe that there are payouts to doctors in this business that actually hurts the patient.
Jeff
Interestingly enough they have the links to this post. I sent it to everyone that I have been dealing with including my trainer and the local rep. She noted that she sent it on to the higher ups.
The thing is, we can all go along and say I love this or that company and everything is just wonderful. However, let a bad experience happen and we should be able to voice a complaint. It doesnt mean we dont like the product, but it means something happened and our experience turned bad. $5 to $6k for these pumps, we are the consumers and we really deserve to be kept informed and dealt with honestly. Again, you can continue along being perfectly content with everything but let something really go wrong and let's see how you feel about it then! Every couple days someone posts on another list (or this one) "what happened to the supply dept?"
Limiting orders=backorders=people not having their calls returned. That's it.
And apparently this doesnt apply to anyone who orders their stuff outside of the company.

Btw, I also collected quite a few apologies on this mess both from Animas and Carecentrix.
Laura just so you know Medtronic isn't without it's customer service hassles either. That's one of the major reasons why I left Medtronic for Animas because of similar issues to what you're describing now. I had the same thing happen to me I actually had to get emergency pump supplies both from my endo and the rep one year because I couldn't get supplies. My supply order was held up for two months while medtronic and the insurance kept blaming each other for the hold up. And other stuff too. I never did find out what the final problem was. It was a nightmare and no one would take responsibility.

Anyway Medtronic is not the company Minimed once was. I have hands down had much better customer service overall from Animas. Everybody's experience will vary though and there have been many satisfied customers also.
Yeah, I know. Everyone has a different situation.
I wouldnt like waiting for technical assistance at all.
But supply wise, every order goes to stupid Carecentrix and my coverage on that is 100 percent. I never see a bill.
Jeff, your Endo should NEVER force you to have a pump you do not like. That is just bad business. I was on the MM paradigm as well and I loved it too. I really love my Animas though. I've never had an issue with the company and my trainers right now are actually Animas employees so. Good luck. I really hope they can get you back on the MM bc in the end we all work best with the device we love. :o)
I have a special Rx that states I "have" to change every 2 days. I have never thought they just ship out b/c your insurance ok'd it. Being from the medical area I do understand where they are coming from and when they get fined it's big time. Just have your Endo write you a new script that you have to change every 2 days and not 3 due to infection and the shipment will be 4 boxes one order and 5 the next. Hope that helps.
Sandy
Hi Sandy!Actually, if you order from Animas direct and have it written for every two days you will now be getting exactly 45 sets. So they will send half a box (if you want to look at it that way).
No more rounding boxes up, according to my rep. They wont send five.
With me they have always sent 4 one order and 5 the next but I really don't care as long as I get the amount that I need. In my case it's on Rx so it was never an issue. Thanks for letting me know to expect this though. I don't have an issue with it.
Oh it just keeps getting better..... I ran out of insets in August before the end of my 90 days. Placed my reorder online. It didn't ship, so I called them. I talked to a girl, the insisted they were going to hold the order til September but since they shorted me on the last order, she would ship me 6 insets to get me through (which keep in mind they shorted me originally). She noted the reorder would be held until whatever date in September so insurance would be billed correctly. WRONG... They shipped the 6 and the reorder the same day..... NOW instead of a hundred or so dollars for supplies, insurance is saying I owe close to $500.... WHAT!!!!!

Animas is just looking for a fight.... I will fight with all that I have, and even more if I need to.... I will get this resolved come heck or high water..... I can understand some problems, but this has been a problem since the first order for me, because I was supposed to get 5 boxes at each reorder. Now I can only get 46. I have used up the only extra for a jilted cannula set already... So I need to pray there aren't any other issues for 90 days.

Sorry to rant yet again. The process has been so frustrating..... funny as we usually hear that it is insurance we fight with, only my insurance is on board with the qty of insets I need for the time that I need them. ANIMAS NEEDS TO SEE THE LIGHT, or pass the fulfillment to another company. Luckily I am getting a middle man next order but that's almost 3 months away. It can't come soon enough....
I'm sorry what a mess!, and yes my HMO is also on board and was not happy with Animas.
Speaking of praying, I cannot judge from my tax returns how much assistance I might qualify for (my CPA said my 2010 earnings looked awful, and that is what Carecentrix asked for so....).
I am sending my financial package today to Carecentrix and praying I qualify for a MM Revel.
Good luck on the change... I will keep you in my prayers that all goes well for you.
