Going away for a long weekend (Thur-Sun). Should I get a vacation (loaner) pump??

I am traveling several states away by car and will be away for a 4-5 days. I am going from Saint Louis, MO to Beloit, WI. While in WI I will be staying at a college. At what point do you get a vacation pump???

Thanks,

Ron

I think it depends if you will be somewhere where you can receive a replacement pump sent overnight to you. You need to talk Animas & find out about the conditions for receiving a loaner pump.

Whatever you do take lots of spare infusion sets etc, insulin & syringes for backup. If you are really concerned about the pump breaking take a vial of Lantus or another basal insulin

I am glad I did actually had a bad set the canula kinked and I hit 420 when I pushed to correct my shirt got wet and the insulin was coming out of me. I was back in control in 3 hours but, boy oh boy did I feel like hell till then.
