Hi all
I've had my Ping for 2 years now and am very happy with it. Over that time I have occasionally gotten a message that my remote couldn't communicate with my pump - no biggie. But recently I've been getting that message more often than not. Any idea why or what I can do; it's getting annoying!

I've noticed that I'm getting this message a lot, too. I only find it annoying when I have to dig my pump out from under clothing to get to it. I think sometimes it happens when there are too many electronic devices around. The alarm does say to try changing channels, so maybe one day I'll sit down with the manual and figure out how to do that.
Thanks, Jen; yeah I was kind of wondering about that channel thing too. It would be nice if it were a one time thing to fix the problem.
I just cruised the manual. On page 188 it talks about changing the channel. I'm going to try it and I'll post the results.
Ok, I did that, Jen. I changed both the pump and the remote (from channel 8 to channel 1) It was easy enough to do.. I'll see if that decreases the error message. If not page 187 tells you to record certain information and call Customer Service to troubleshoot. Hopefully I won't have to do that. I'll let you know if changing the channel helped!

I've had my Ping for 2+ years, and I can't remember if I have ever had to replace the batteries. In my case I have not been using communication between meter-remote and pump.
I regularly change the batteries in both the remote and the pump when I get the message to do so, Tom! Do you mean you've never changed either one??

I have probably changed them, but since it appears to be straightforward in the manual, it didn't leave a lasting impression on me. You said you're seeing the message more frequently, and in my electrical engineer brain that suggests to me the batteries may be running down. The pump battery is also running down, and maybe neither has reached the limit that would cause the message that asks for a change, but perhaps the combination is enough to cause the problem you're complaining about.
I appreciate the input Tom, but I don't think it's the batteries. I change them regularly, and I've never seen this message increase prior to changing like this. Just out of curiosity, why don't you use the remote? To me that's the best aspect of the Ping!

Permalink Reply by jrtpup on January 28, 2013 at 3:45am I'm amazed as well that you haven't changed the batteries. Mine asks for a change maybe every 4 months or so? (I'll try to keep track next time!) I do use the remote extensively.
Zoe, just to throw a kink in the works... I've had mine almost 2 years as well and haven't seen the 'cannot communicate' more than I did before. Have you called Animas to ask what, if anything, it means?
Permalink Reply by Unknown Diabetic on January 28, 2013 at 6:47am I have had this problem also and when this happens I just back up the meter one step and then go forward again. This seems to work for me. I haven't tried changing channels.
