Hi, Ingrid. I just got my first Animas pump ever this june and it´s a Vibe. I have set my IOB duration to 4.5 hours too, and mostly I make adjusments or eat before the 4.5 hours have passed. I´ll keep an eye out though and keep you posted.
Checked it last night. IOB worked as it should.
I forgot to tell you that I´m in Norway. Haven´t heard about the IOB malfunction here.
This has also been reported in New Zealand.. It is under investigation..
Thanks for posting about this IOB issue. I'm in the US and use a Ping. The IOB number is important to me and I look at it several times every day. My insulin duration period is also set to 4.5 hours. I have not seen an instance when it didn't make sense and extend beyond 4.5 hours.
I will continue to follow this thread as I intend to upgrade my Ping to the Vibe when it's released in the US. Let's hope the Animas engineers figure out what's going with the IOB calculation.
Will Animas update you when it discovers what's going on? Please update when/if you get news.
Sounds like another reason not to get the "latest thing" when it first comes out, but wait until the bugs are ironed out!
I agree, Zoe. I am not usually an early adopter of technology. The Vibe, however, in the US, is not leading edge. It was released in Europe in 2011. That's why this IOB issue surprises me. I'm hoping it's limited to a few serial numbers and possibly some defective parts. We'll see.
With the Vibe under the FDA microscope, I'm sure that Animas engineering is intently focused on this anomaly. Maybe this IOB issue is the reason for the Vibe's US introduction delay.
I'm not anxious about this as my Ping, except for the poor belt clip, continues to do its job well.
Good point, Terry. I was actually looking at the Accu-Chek combo, but may just stick with the Ping when my warranty is up next January. Sounds like Ingrid is saying the Ping is no longer available in the UK, but rumor has it that Animas U.S. will continue it. Yes, it's the sort of thing you can live without if you aren't used to it - but to me, now, having to take my BG on one device than switch to another kind of reminds me of the U.S. knife and fork dance!
