Here's the registration link (it's free) for November's Los Angeles Triabetes Dawn Phenomenon. We will be walking and running anywhere from 1 - 7.5 miles on a flat woodchip trail in Manhattan Beach on November 27th starting at 9AM. Snacks provided coutesy of Insulindependence/Triabetes.

I'm hoping to be out in vegas for the1/2....... Just waiting to see if hubby can get the time off of work. I hear you about Bret Michaels. It'll be my first 1/2 also, I just want to still like running when I'm done. :)

Not keeling over is always a good goal! You'll do great. So, if you see someone wearing an "I Run on Insulin" shirt, it might be me.

Thanks, Christian! I'm looking forward to it. All of the others I've done have been in the Midwest, so it's nice to venture out. And, not that I'm a Poison fan, but having Bret Michaels as the headliner is really cool. Good luck with the CIM! I'm in awe of anyone who can do a full marathon.

I almost signed up for the Vegas Marathon, but chose to register for CIM in Sacramento that same day. I'll be hosting a casual run through Triabetes/ Insulindependence on November 27th in Los Angeles. I'll post when the details are set. Good luck!

I am! I am! I am! It's my first. (the Las Vegas half) My goal is to... finish without keeling over. LOL.

That's awesome, Jeff! Your comment made me wonder whether anyone on this list is planning to run the 1/2 marathon in Vegas on Dec. 5? (It's the Rock & Roll marathon and half marathon.) ALSO, are there any diabetic runners out there in the St. Louis region who like to train in Forest Park and need a running partner? I'm not horribly fast, but I'm dedicated (e.g., my goal for Vegas half is to break the 2 hour mark).

Go to Missy Foy's web site:
If you have any specific questions, go ahead and ask in this group.
I've run over 50 marathons, and there are other experienced diabetic runners here.

I've had Type-1 Diabetes now for 42 years (starting at age 4--it was really different back then), and I just completed by first Half-Marathon last weekend. I've signed up with some friends for the Myrtle Beach Marathon on February 19, and I'm interested in good articles about marathoning with Type-1 Diabetes. And yes, that's my baby daughter Maddie in the picture. Jeff

For anyone in the Los Angeles area... I am organizing a free run/walk this Saturday in Manhattan Beach. We start at 9AM. Snacks provided coutesy of Insulindependence/Triabetes. Come and walk or run anywhere from 1-7.5 miles. Follow this link for more info

(Hi Anne! I just joined TuDiabetes and figured I should post our LA Dawn Phenom event here, too.)

Triabetes documentary San Francisco premiere next Wednesday at 7 PM

Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 7:00pm
University of California San Francisco, Cole Hall
513 Parnassus Avenue
San Francisco, CA

In 2008, 12 people with type 1 diabetes set out to complete Ironman Wisconsin as part of a team called Triabetes. Triabetes has now grown to be the world’s largest triathlon club for people with diabetes, shattering presumed limitations and revolutionizing the way people approach diabetes management.

Come meet current Triabetes members, and join us for an evening of inspiration, education and exploration as we follow these athletes and the kids who partnered with them for their journey to the finish line and beyond.

Tickets are free; $5-10 donation welcome at the door.
To reserve a ticket, visit or contact myself.
