I recently took my bs and it was 167...which is good for me. Being surprised...I took another sample and it went up to 218. It busted my bubble of happiness. Can anyone explain this?

Blood sugar varies depending on a lot of factors. What did you eat, when, was the site totally clean, were you stressed etc.
Did you take the sample with the same pricked finger, or start fresh with a new one?
I usually did the 3 times is the charm! Meters are not perfect and doubtful that you'd get the same BG twice in a row even done seconds apart. Or even on another meter.
Don't fret and just try again.
You'll get there. Keep that bubble of happiness that you GOT that 167 as I feel that isn't the 'Norm' with you.
