Are continuous glucose meters covered my medicare or government medical insurance in Canada?

I'd like to get one but Dexcom does not sell them here, despite distributing them in other parts of the world. I'm continuing to pursue this - I'm not sure if the issue is regulatory or market size or what. Many provincial medical services plans are jumping on the bandwagon to cover insulin pumps these days. I think CGM's have a way to go before being covered (ie we need the product here). Why do you ask?
As far as I am aware the answer is no. That is definitely the answer for BC, but I am pretty sure the answer is the same across the country.
As far as I am aware this is due to them not being a medical necessity, whereas the argument for pumps, syringes, etc... can be made.

You would need to have them covered by your work medical plan if you have one and if it even covers it. Mine does not even cover the quicksets or reservoirs. I only get the amount given by the Ont. gov't assisted devices program.
