Insulin pump coverage in Alberta - let's not let this slip!!
Last week Gary Mar, the front-runner in the PC party leadership election (which essentially decides the next premier), vowed to cover insulin pumps under the provincial health care plan. Then something amazing happened - he lost to Alison Redford who was a full 20% behind him in the first-round vote!
She never made that promise that I'm aware of, but I don't want this issue to slip. I wrote a letter to Alison this morning asking her to honour his promise. I encourage all of you -- wherever you're from -- to send her a message as well and keep this issue on the forefront. I'm also writing a letter to the editor of the Calgary Herald and I ask you to write to your local papers as well.
Access to insulin pump coverage is too important to let it be a "carrot" in a failed election campaign.

Yes, please, join our group. Its called for BC (that's where I'm from... moved from AB 7 yrs ago) but honestly we've got people from all over and discuss things about what pump coverage has done in Ontario and how we can go about fighting for it ourselves. I'm just going to post a link here so that you, or anyone that wants, can come and join us over there as well...... this cant die. We need to fight. Hello! I am new to this post and to tudiabetes. I am also from AB and agree this issue should be kept at the forefront. I believe that Alison Redford did not speak much during her campaign to this issue, but I am hopeful that her government will give significant consideration in-light of the recent report published by the Canadian Diabetes Association – ‘The Economic Benefit of Public Funding of Insulin Pumps in Alberta’ (highly recommend you check it out).
