I am looking at getting an IPad and was wondering if anyone has one and if so, are there any apps that could be useful as far as helping with diabetes (even something like how to find out how many carbs is in something, etc). They say there is an app for everything and I cant help but wonder if there are diabetes apps too.

I have had an IPad for about 4 months and have found limited apps.

Calorie King has one that is the most useful, but it is quite limited for Canada.

For example the restaurant Boston Pizza. There are a few items but we still need to get the nutrition chart as things like children's burger aren't listed. They have lots for McD's and DQ though.

There are a few apps for logging, but we find it easier just to use a paper book. You are also limited for some web pages as there is no Java support whcih a lot of pages use for buttons and pull down menus.

There is not USB port either so you can't connect any devices, like uploading the pump.

My fitness pal is pretty good for finding carb contents

I use the Glooko Logbook App and have found it to be so easy to use and very helpful. It lets me connect the two different meters I use directly to my iPhone (the app works on iPads too) and download all of my meter readings in seconds -- no more manual entry!!! I can add notes about foods/carbs/insulin/exercise/etc. right in the app, too. There's also a food database included that gives me the nutritional info for all my favorite meals.

For one of the first times, logging my readings hasn't seemed like such a burden. I even emailed all my numbers directly from the app to my doctor last week and we both really noticed a difference in how it's been helping me. He loved the app almost as much as I did :)
