I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in 2005 and like many have had my ups and downs. Although I had relative success initially, it is always a struggle to keep the condition in the forefront and be prudent in controlling it. After initial success, I slipped into a sense of security and for a while was either in denial or ignored the fact that I was diabetic.

In early February this year, I was faced with hypertension (200+/90+) and when my Hb A1C was checked it was at 8.4. For me that was a shock and with the help of my family doctor, I have both the hypertension and glucose level under control. Just three months later my blood pressure is reduced to below 120/70 and my latest Hb A1C was 6.5. I lowered my A1C with exercise and diet and have reduced my blood pressure medicine to one half.

I have written at HubPages about my struggle with diabetes and my approach to controlling it. I post the links here in the hopes that it may help someone else. A quick reminder: Anything you try should be with consultation of a medical professional.

I wanna congradulate you, for fighting back like you did! Way to go cowboy:)
Thanks Chantale. The key is for me to continue and not get another set back. You all know how easy that is.
Nice to see that things are better! I find at times that I run low while my BP is running high....ever had that?
Thanks for commenting, actually my glucose was running high at the time my BP was. I have had occasions of it running below 4 though recently if I don't eat something every 2 to three hours. It varies though.
Congrats Alberta neighbour ....very inspiring !!
Thank you, I hope it helps someone to battle their own demons. This stuff has a habit of sneaking up on you.
