A challenge : BC had their Provincial Election , May 14 , 2009 . Will Nova Scotians beat us in BC by sending more letters to candidates percentage wise ??? And only 48 percent of the eligible voters casted their votes .

The outcome of this election was a majority NDP government (the first time in Nova Scotia's history). They won 31 of the 52 seats in the legislature, the Liberals won 11 and the Progressive Conservatives won 10. Only 57.95% of registered electors voted. As for what this means for diabetes advocacy, I don't know, but a socially conscious New Democratic government can't be a bad thing.

Hi HFXNS ( I bet HF means Halifax , NS Nova Scotia ...makes sense with Peggy's Cove in your profile picture , haha ?? ) Thanks for responding and stating some numbers ...not too much action otherwise to my discussion . Nova Scotians seem more interested in politics , than BC , by the numbers you shared ?
Canadian Diabetes Association's advocacy does not support any one particular political party ; the aim is to have all governments ( Feds and Prov .) be aware, that Diabetes in Canada is a great concern and ofcourse a costly one for the the tax payer . And it helps if people with diabetes get involved in the advocacy process, so that we , you and I are heard with the help of the Association .Maybe you want to get involved ? : calling the CDA 1-800-BANTING or visit the website www.diabetes.ca maybe the right step in the right direction . There is also a group of active young advocates .
