Vancouver Area - New Bridge - Free Pass
I am just starting to look into this so you will want to get some information for yourself.
The new Port Mann bridge is being made free to all pass holders who have a disability. The reasoning according to the web site is that you should not have to pay a toll to go see your doctor. Translink is also looking at applying this to the Golden Ears bridge.
I have a call in as my daughter is T1 and according to the provincial government has a disability and we just transferred doctors to North Van so we have to cross the bridge. About the only reason we cross the bridge.
This will be a fight as the policy only applies to people who own a car, but I figure if there are other calls it might help and might save some other people some money.

Who would you contact? Trio? Translink? BC govt? As we are in White Rock and have to travel north over both bridges from time to time for his Dr.

Is type 2 considered a disability? I'm moving to Surrey soon so will be using the bridge daily.

Don't know. If you can get your doctor to sign the form then yes.
Unfortunately a huge grey area. Province says life sustaining therapy over x number of hours is disabled, but doesn't qualify for car decal or some other services. -

This is interesting info . Thanks Loke !!..did I read one has to have a Medical app't to qualify ??? lucymae is that your daily purpose , as you said , you "will be using the bridge daily " ? !!It reminds me a bit about having a Medical app't a min of 40 km from home and qualify for a " tax credit " as we do , when we travel to Vernon for a Medical app't . The " life sustaining " wording is also used with the Disability Tax Credit ..one has to prove it takes a min of 14 hours to manage diabetes ( type 1 and 2 on multiple doses of insulin ) ...another topic :)

We have never heard of this "tax Credit"... As we drive to Abbotsford from White Rock on a regular basis. Either that or we are driving to Maple Ridge.
