Comment by Peetie on May 26, 2012 at 2:56pm Good luck Ladybug. Hope you are able to get it. cheers!
I am going to give the tax credit thing a try...my endo is for it and really there is nothing in the tax credit that indicates type one or type two it is about showing that it is life sustaining therapy and that you are spending 14+ hours per week managing it. I am lucky to currently have a good benefit plan that covers my pump but if the future if i ever needed the provincal plan it would be nice if it was concistant....
Comment by Peetie on May 24, 2012 at 12:32pm LADYBUG: I don't see why you shouldn't qualify for a pump if it keeps you healthy? Looks like you won't qualify for a Tax Credit either. :( (can't bring myself to read that one). The gap between the types gets wider every day.
An opportunity to speak up and speak out as I found CDA's request in our inbox :" CDA's suvey regarding the information and suppport needs of people living with diabetes:http://www.diabetes.ca/diabetes-and-you/living/assessment/
The survey is promoted through several communication channels, and on CDA's main rotating banner on our website's home page( www.diabetes.ca ) . We have received a good volume of responses with just a few days live. Background: This survey is one of several research and assessment methods in a major project for us: We are currently conducting a review of our current program offerings to develop strategies for people living with type 1, type 2, gestational and pre-diabetes according to their needs, and a scan of resources available from other sources. From this work, we will determine which programs should be developed, expanded, or retired over the next 12-24 months. Request: As people affected by diabetes and familiar with our programs, we would be grateful for your completion of this survey, and forwarding it to others who are similarly interested." ...end of message
would like to see the BC legislation also cover type 2's that are on pumps....I would not go back to the cocktail of oral meds over my pump and i think all diabeitcs should have the choice...
A fantastic day at the BC Legislature... This was presented to the BC Polititians yesterday ...both parties had a chance to interact with young , adults and senior pumpers like me ( age 71 plus ) ...happy and proud to be an Advocate for the Association . We are moving forward !!
