EASTER BLESSINGS

Hi Jen!
Mary just turned 10 and was diagnosed 4 years ago. We will be praying for you. It's not easy, I know. May you find strength in the Lord! Mary would love to write to your daughter.

Hello, My daughter,13, was diagnosed a few months ago with type 1. She really needs someone her age to talk to. Do any of you have a daughter close to her age that would like to be email pals? I am posting it in the Christian group as her faith is important to her. I am hoping to find another girl help her through the ups and downs of being a new diabetic.

Does anyone know of any Christian charities or organizations that promote/advocate for people with diabetes and diabetes awareness?

Hi Brothers and Sisters in Christ!
I am very, very glad to see this group here! Do I ever need encouragement from time to time. Our 9 year old was diagnosed 4 years ago. Her name is Mary. We live in PA. Her insurance company dropped her back in Aug. and put her on Medicaid, in which we found out Medicaid did not cover her Omnipod. BUT God has been truly faithful. The folks a Medicaid did all they could for us. The Medical director even agreed to take a second look at the Omnipod and then just like that she approved it, HOWEVER. Working with Insulet was another story. With only a few weeks of pods left and 2 months later they never returned Medicaids calls or mine. HENCE, we switched to the Minimed Revel. We just received it Friday with a MIRACULOUS quick approval from the same Medicaid Medical director. God's hand was surely in this. It was a very very hard trial for me initially to accept. But I know this is what is best for Mary! I cannot wait to hear from you!

Thanks Kathy and Linda for shedding some light on this subject. Next Saturday I will do a dry run, seeing that it should not really affect my numbers

Not to worry about forgoing the one hour fast prior to communion. I remember talking to a priest re. that...his reply was basically that food for a diabetic is considered a medicine, and thus does not interfere with the fast....ie you are exempt from fasting.

There are not enough carbs in communion to worry about it. I think it may total 1 gram of carb or maybe 2 grams of carb at the most. I would not worry about the host and wine the little that you do have which is basically a swallow's worth messing up your numbers. You should be fine.
