I think we too often forget to thank God for our diabetes, but honestly we all have something to thank him for... whether its medical care, emotional support, church prayers, and even financial ability to care for our diabetes. God is our Father and as our Father he loves to supply all our needs, including our diabetic needs. I am thankful because through this diagnoses and life, I'm receiving the gift of suffering which gives birth to the gift of perseverance. I'm closer to God now with the diabetes then I ever was before. So even though this disease is hard to live with daily and we wouldn't wish it on our worse enemies... I still thank God for what he's done in my life as a result of it. How about you?

I thank God every time I am hypo! The treatment can be pleasant. We do not HAVE to use those horrible tasting glucose tabs.

I also thank Him that I have it in the first place as it has made me sit up and take note about looking after myself better!

I thank God that it has given me more empathy for others with it. I did not know a lot about it before I was diagnosed.

I thank God that I have it NOW and did not have to use re-useable needles, boiling urine etc.

I thank God that I can have free prescriptions for diabetes and everything else, whether I am working or not, and that I am fast tracked if anything else goes wrong simply because I have diabetes.

I thank God that I have a ready sense of humour - I certainly need one!
Wonderful things to be thankful for! Along with being Fast Tracked because of the diabetes I must admit, there's one more added blessing :) When I really need to go to the bathroom and I'm not a patron I just mention I'm Type 1 and need to go to the bathroom. I've never had a single person say No. LOL, gotta enjoy the little stuff :)
Mmm. Not sure I have used diabetes as an excuse to need a toilet, I just go in to various places where I know that there are lots of people, and therefore nobody notices me! I am not the only one who does this! I wonder if it is a sin?
I wish it was like that here, but unfortunately there are many business and such that won't let you in to use their facilities unless you're a patron. But with a medical diagnoses they can't say no. I only have to go to that extreme when I'm walking around Downtown Seattle. There is such a high homeless rate that businesses are very, very secure, often you have to ask where a restroom even is because they don't broadcast them. Crazy eh?
There are many companies here, who will not let you use their toilets, but I have just got to know what ones will let you in, and which ones not. I can understand it, they have to pay for cleaning, supplies etc and do not necessarily want to have to pay for any damages. You or I might not damage things but others may just go in to cause trouble. I can definitely understand the homeless thing - even though I regularly volunteer with homeless people.

If I am not sure I will ask if there I could have a glass of water from the tap and then ask where the toilet is. That way I become a patron.

There are cards in the UK that you can carry to state that you have an urgent bladder problem, but I have never had one.
I am thankful because I'm more aware of nutrition and exercise and keeping myself healthy. I'm much healthier than most people I know who do not have diabetes. I also have a great appreciation for the wonderful doctors and nurses who take care of me with great compassion and show such vast knowledge.
I am thankful that the one time when my blood sugar dropped to 29. my husband was with me and he could tell something was wrong. I was sound asleep and would never have woken up that morning by myself. All I can say is there must still be something God wants me to do and therefore I am still alive.
