TuDiabetes - A Community for People Touched by Diabetes

AMIGO, has an idea to see if we can have a BLUE ROSE circle of insulin-dependent, diabetics, worldwide, who are enjoying a healthy lifestyle, to meet with me, have a moment of silence and give THANKS, for BANTING & BEST, discovery of INSULIN, JULY 30, annually. A suggestion for this important event could be held in your area, in a large park in the form of a picnic or gathering, showing the POSITIVE side of this 'silent killer'', that is on a rampage. Events could be planned in such a way to be 'shining examples' to the newly-diagnosed,that having diabetes, is a BEGINNING,not the END. Having diabetes, is a challenge, a burden, a transformation, and a blessing. so let's accept it as a gracious gift and let it teach us to live our years well. Use your imagination and make this yearly event a TuDiabetes,'must do' celebration. clarence.haynes@sympatico.ca

Thanks, sohair for using this idea to make this event a memorable day for your patients, the smile on their faces will tell their acceptence. Something else you might be able to introduce in your area, is an AMIGO K.I.T. (KEEP IN TOUCH), the plan I use is asking 5 of my diabetic friends to have a DAILY contact, kkeping in touch. DIABETICS and people living alone needs a pleasant part of their day to look forward to, and I always encourage them to call 5 people they know and make their day.just imagine being part of the largest group of diabetics KEEPING IN TOUCH. If anyone visiting TORONTO, they can get in touch with the AMIGO clarence.haynes@sympatico.ca Encourage your collegues to adopt the AMIGO, K.I.T. project and we will KEEP IN TOUCH

Hello Ron, I am looking for ideas to collectively celebratte this important date in the lives of diabetics who are taking advantage of using this "miracle" to live a healthy lifestyle TODAY. Maybe on that day a ROLE MODEL could be featured to spur the newly-diagnosed to get there act together and be an example to others. Check with your local LIONS CLUB because they have an outstanding prevention and awareness, program Contact the media and find out how INSULIN has made a difference in your life, let your imagination be your guide. AMIGOS will be selling BLUE ROSES hat day to support www.restorethebantinghomestead. com. We used this flower because of its meaning,'ATTAINING THE IMPOSSIBLE' our mission and motto. clarence.haynes@sympatico.ca Thanks for any suggestion, its going to be an annual event.
