My Cozmo warranty expires in Jan 2013, and I hope to use it until it dies. There is not another pump on the market which offers Cozmo's capability.

My IRDA only works on an old computer which runs the Windows XP operating system. I can't get it to work with my newer Windows Vista system. I hold on to the old XP computer mostly for CoPilot.

Maybe we should start a new group in tudiabetes for Remaining Cozmo users??

I'm still using my Cozmo but am hoping to get rid of it soon once my warranty expires. The pump works just fine but the cozmonitor gives me nothing but trouble. I don't know how many times I've stuck my finger only to find that the monitor software did not start when I put the test strip in. I did have to get a warranty replacement for this pump a while ago because the case cracked. I will say that getting a replacement was very easy and the company was quite responsive to my request so I was happy about that.. I will probably switch to a minimed

Anyway, for those of us with up to date computers there is a free download from Microsoft called windows xp mode which will run your irda on a windows 7 PC along with all the cozmo software. I can connect my Cozmo to my windows 7 PC using this virtual machine. I don't know if it's available for vista but it works perfectly for me on windows 77

Sean ... thanks for that awesome tip about the "xp mode" for Windows 7. As soon as I've had my tuDiabetes "fix" tonight, I'll d/l and install it. WOW, I sure hope it works for me, too :-)

Not sure if this will help you with the Cozmonitor, but I have an extra (actually sounded like it needed a new battery. Once I replaced that, it worked fine. 2) and I'd be happy to send you one if yours isn't working well. My first one started being a bit unreliable and when I called for help, they told me it Occasionally still, I have the problem you noted, but not very often.

It amazes me that I don't see the problem until after I waste a strip ...

I find sometimes, I can't get the monitor software on the pump to run at all until I scratch the connection part of the strip with my fingernail. It's as if there's some kind of film on the strip preventing the cozmonitor from detecting there's a strip there- that's a recent discovery. I've wasted many strips myself on that particular quirk of this pump- usually in the morning when I'm still half asleep. But, when I've been more awake I noticed the problem and started experimenting a little, figuring that if I'm going to be wasting strips, I may as well learn something from it. :-)

Thanks for the offer to send your spare. I think I'm fairly close to the warranty date on my pump and I have a collection of old metres if it totally breaks. I have changed the battery in it before but it didn't make ,much of a difference. Honestly, I would horde any spare supplies you have. :-)

I hope xp mode works for you . I find it pretty handy to print out my stats before my clinic appointment. Its fairly straightforward but I'll be happy to provide what help I can if you need it

If you're still under warranty, Smith's will send you a new Cozmonitor.

To get my irDA to work, A friend installed a "virtual XP" on my windows seven desktop computer. It's kind of buggy but it works.

Don't know what I'll do when mine expires.

Thanks, Roger. Your friend has done what Sean did and I'm about to try it, too! One of the tech support folks at work has graciously agreed to help me check it out. Wish me luck on this front.

WHINING ALERT ;-): I'm still amazed that Cozmo's useful features dating back a decade or so, haven't been copied by other companies. That site reminder is a god-send, the backlight, the modular loading (so we can change just the cannula if needed, or just the tubing, etc.) seem essential to me now.

Done with whining ...
May our Cozmos work flawlessly until we each find THE pump that suits us best. Perhaps the next gen pumps will make the Cozmo seem quaint. That T-slim looks intriguing, for example.

Did anyone else get a certified letter stating that there are no more valid test strips for the CozMonitor? We were required to return a faxed or email response confirmation. I liked the pump but loosing test strip compatibility is pretty critical IMO. I am filing paper work for a new pump.

For the IRDA, I have a vista 64bit machine that it still works with. There are some settings that can be changed to make it work. Go to Device Manager, expand to find settings for the IR Adapter. Right-click and choose properties. My notes say to set Minimum Turnaround to 10.0 ms, and, Spend-Enabled to 19200.

I have to reset these because periodically a vista update will overlay those settings. I am not certain if that will work for Win7.

Sniff sniff ... Yes, I got that letter, too. I've been using the "forbidden" strips for months and the readings sure seemed to match my own sense of my BG... And my a1c.

I suspect it was a lawyer-induced communication because S-M probably never tested the gold-box, butterfly-decorated strips. It was another limb chopped off the dear Cozmo.

With the suggestions from this forum, I was able to set up a virtual xp machine on my PC. Well, actually, the IT guy at work agreed to do it for me as our machines are locked down and configured so that mere mortals shall not bring down the network from ineptitude ;-)

I'm hanging onto the Cozmo until The bitter end. My warrantee is good thru August. Tick tock tick tock. which pump are you aiming for?

The pump is actually for my son (age 13).

We are going to go with the Medronic pump. The new one has the missed meal bolus alarm which was the main feature we were looking for when we went with the Coz system. It's also has integration with a GCM, and, uses Cigna's preferred test strips. There is also a cool (but pricey) remote monitoring tool, MySentry, which will transmit CGM, Insulin-levels, and battery levels to a dashboard that be left in the parent's bedroom.

My late Coz had the missed meal bolus alarms...though didn't work well for me as I have a crazy schedule! At a loss for what pump to review next...LOVED my Cozmo...would even buy a used one if I could find one. So far, no luck with that option. But since word is no BG strips to use the monitor with it...kinda a lost cause. KP only covers Minimed & Amydisys. Not sure what one I will go with...like the underdogs...but not sure about the new touch screen just approved by FDA. Hmmmm. Love all the touch phones, iPads etc...just not so sure I want it on a piece of durable medical equipment!!!
