Comment by MikeMack on April 26, 2013 at 5:56am It's not a good thing when your nighttime BG is lower than the miles you rode the evening before! 35 miles on the road...25 BG at 1:30 am.

Comment by MikeMack on April 3, 2013 at 6:01pm Got just 10 in this evening on the road bike with a group training for Ride to Beat Cancer. Cold and windy, but sun felt good.
Just rode El Tour de Tucson 111 miles in 4:47 placed 231 out of 2870.
Owe it all to pickle juice 3 oz during the ride no cramps.
So you have the syringes, and you might have the USPS kit with the yellow jersey. So isn't Lance Armstrong the natural costume for any cyclist with diabetes this Halloween?
Stick a few shots under your sleeve, sticking out of your jersey pockets or on your ear and you are done.
I would do it but that was already my costume a few years ago. Happy Halloween!
Comment by miketosh on August 21, 2012 at 11:46am Sure I feel it, but it isn't a distracting feeling. Just feel like I'm working hard.
The Livestrong folks provided TONS of PB&J for everyone coming through the 7 "power stops", with the last 3 hit out and back. They also had a tray of jelly beans with a scoop, trail mix, assorted energy bars, etc.
I stuck to the PB&J at the rest stops, and while out on the ride I had a couple gatorade food products. I like both the gel and the chewy cubes. I probably had 4 whole PB&J. Afterwards I stopped at Wawa for a donut and a frozen coffee. I watched the CGM pretty closely all day and stayed between 120 and 150. At the point when the sugar dropped to 118, I suspended the pump, and then about an hour later it got back to 120 and stuck there.
Nice Job Mike. Do you feel your heart when it's gouing that fast? My max is 178. 4400 Calories what did you eat?
Comment by miketosh on August 21, 2012 at 11:00am Yeah, not sure if that is my HRM or just that I have an unusually high HR. 163 for a bike ride is right around average. When I run, it averages closer to 190.
Maybe I just have "more heart"♥!!! :-)
Comment by Michael McClure on August 21, 2012 at 9:39am Nice work, Mike! That heart got up there... and from your stats it ~STAYED~ right up there throughout. Goodonya. Heckuva ride.
Comment by miketosh on August 21, 2012 at 7:38am Philly Livestrong Challenge was CRAZY difficult. Cut my ride short at 66 miles (10 miles short) to ensure I could walk at work this week.

5000 feet of climbing, 4400 Calories, and 4:30 in the saddle. Ouch. South Jersey doesn't have any of these things called "hills".
