Mike, it doesn't matter how old your ride is -- the only reason I replaced my '81 Lotus Excelle is that some old frame damage finally progressed to the point of functional failure (in short, the front wheel was bound by the down tube such that I could no longer steer correctly or brake safely).

I love to ride but my wheels are way outta date. Rode in one diabetes event in 2008 in St Francisville, LA. Was a bike patrol officer for 5 yrs and love urban riding!!! Kudos to all who ride!!!!

I really find the trainer helps with my hill climbing more than anything else. Of course I say that now while I am in training for my upcoming century and my trainer is in my friend's living room instead of my own.

Mike, My weekly training consist of : Mon, Web & Fri. commuter round trip 40miles and 5 mile run at lunch time. Tues& Thur. boot camp class and on trainer at night for 1 hour.
On weekend ride 70 to 80 miles long ride with lots of rolling hils.

Mike: understand about the trainer. Spent the last week doing major moving of stuff around the living room. Still have to wait for landlord to finish a few things before I can get everything moved into some semblance of its final placement. Today should be a good day for it... blizzard outside.

Sounds great John, keep up the great recovery work and you'll be climbing those valley hills before you know it!!! :)

John, I'm jealous. I just can't find time to ride my trainer right now, and the roads are STILL too snow/salt/sand/ice covered from the Jan 29th blizzard to run (or bike) outdoors. Maybe by this weekend it will clear up.

I ran 3 miles yesterday. I have been biking on my off days of cardiac rehab. Of course I am biking indoors because I live in Cleveland Ohio!!! 10 weeks after cardiac bypass. I hope to ride better than I did last year.
