My 11 year old is on omnipod, and I'd love to have to help her with basals, and her biggest problem right now is lows during dance class, she dances 12 to 14 hours a week, and lows during class are keeping her from being her best...

Permalink Reply by Bruce on April 15, 2012 at 7:19am I am semi-retired and work for a small accounting firm. I normally have Fridays off, but during tax season they asked me to work more hours meaning Friday. My dexcom sensor had been expiring on Fridays. I normally use the sensor for two weeks and had been changing after 14 days for over a year. Friday came and the sensor wanted to be changed after two weeks. I restarted it and it kept plugging along until the next Friday. Again I restarted and made it to 22 days before I changed the sensor. It still seemed to be giving good readings and no ???. I have now been on the dexcom for over two years and wonder how long the transmitter is going to last. Anyone have any ideas how long the transmitter is good for?
Permalink Reply by NatalieHodge on April 16, 2012 at 9:07am wow, you just restart after the first week and get a second week, and perhaps a third??
Permalink Reply by Jennifer on April 16, 2012 at 6:17pm Yup - off label of course. I re-start until the numbers are off - I got 16 days out of my last sensor. Currently on day 7 of this one and restarted this morning.
I usually get 10-14 days before off readings and ???. Once I get a bunch of ???, I don't usually bother trying to restart it again.
Permalink Reply by mikep on April 30, 2012 at 10:54am I am normally in the 20-25 day range. I have to change when I get a lot of ??? and wacky readings. Sensor always works better for me in week 2 and 3.
Love my Dex. If I ever have to go for a little while without it, I feel completely blind.
