So it is possible to swim laps with a G4 and still get signal to the receiver. The first 4 times I swam the sensor was on my stomach or "love handle" and I was "out of range" throughout the hour I swam. Yesterday I changed out the sensor and put it on my arm. Today I did a mile in the pool which took nearly an hour. In that time the sensor only missed 4 time points out of 12. Which is a big improvement over the complete loss of signal. So I guess I will just have to keep it on my arm if I intend to swim for exercise. I am happy it is possible though.
