Currently im getting my supplies from Pumpsit and its also who i got my Dexcom from though they get it from Dexcom... Im curious about switching to getting it directly through Dexcom as i feel it would be alot cheaper and likely easier... do you think i would be able to do this??
http://www.pumpsit.com/ thats who im getting my supplies through now
anyone have any idea?
I can't see why it would be a problem. You're best bet is to call the Dexcom Sales Support line (1-888-738-3646, CustomerService@dexcom.com) and explain your situation. They have sales assistants who will answer all of your questions and be able to figure out costs/coverage, etc. When I started mine, they did all the work with my endo and insurance and all I had to do was fax a couple of forms. Hope this helps.
I am considering something similar. I got my Dexcom through Dexcom at a time when my insurance wouldn't cover it, so I paid out of pocket. Someone from Dexcom suggested getting supplies through Pumpsit because they were more used to dealing with insurance companies and maybe could get the sensorys covered. Pumpsit did get my sensors covered (with some co-pay). Dexcom called me to let me know that my insurance will now cover the GCMS. As time to get a new Dexcom approaches, I do not know if I should do it through Dexcom or Pumpsit. I will be watching to see how folks respond to your question.
yeah i emailed them earlier just waiting for a answer and was curious if anyone had any good input
I think dexcom would be cheaper as pumpsit is a middle man which means more money or usually thats how it works i was gonna do my pump through them and it was gonna cost me alot!!! my insurance would cover but at the time i went through them
My insurance (BC/BS) REQUIRES me to get my Dexcom supplies through PumpsIt. The weird thing is that BC/BS is also requiring me to go through a 3rd party supplier to get the OmniPod but it's a different 3rd party supplier that is locally based in my state called Diabetes Management and Supply. The DMS people told me they also supply Dexcom supplies and they didn't understand why BC/BS told me I had to go through two different suppliers.
I don't understand the whole 3rd party supplier thing at all either because it seems to me that the insurance company could cut a better discount volume wise by going directly to Dexcom or OmniPod.
