For users of a Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitoring ("CGM") device

Just as a reminder with the recent release of the new Dexcom G4 to the US market--it is NOT okay to post about previous models or older sensors as being 'for sale' on this site.

It is a violation of the Terms of Use because it is a prescription device, and any such efforts will unfortunately be removed.

We encourage you to donate supplies to non-profits such as the Charles Ray III Diabetes Association (http://www.cr3diabetes.org), which accepts unexpired glucometer and insulin pump supplies, or alternatively you may talk to your physician's office or other local medical group to discuss donating them to those in need of assistance.

Thank you all for kindly refraining from this activity.

It's worked well in/near this spot before. Enough fat ;) I was also told abdomen is THE place, but I believe that's an FDA constraint because that's where it was tested.
Nevert tried my upper arm, I'd probably knock it off sleeping, I move a lot.

I wonder if the amount of movement in the leg effects your accuracy? I was originally educated that somewhere on the stomach is the best place. Not sure that is true or not. I tried my upper arm and that became a prroblem in sleeping and rolling around. I also did not get good reads. Amount of fatty tissue??? Not sure. kj

I vary where I wear it. This one is on my upper thigh between top and inner, usually a really accurate spot for me. This sensor has been either really wonky or right on.

I would have put both numbers in. The sensor can average it out I believe. It is not unusual for me to find a different number just myself in testing one hand over the other, so at various parts of the body your going to find different sugar readings. The Dex is not going to be 100% accurate anyway...just giving a , hopefully, pretty accurate trend that gives you and idea where the body is at. I have also found my Dex to be more accurate depending where I put the sensor. Where do you wear yours?

Tonight my dex read 89. I took 2 meter readings... the first was 139 which seemed too high, the second 129. What number would you have put into the dex? I split the difference.

I do the same as Erin...no problems. An infusion set can caused scar tissue and poor insulin absorption unless it is changed in 3 days time. A Dexcom sensor can remain in place for 2 weeks, and sometimes more, without causing scar tissue. The insulin entering the body at the infusion site is what will cause scarring beneath the skin's surface after 3 days.

Denys- I have a pump too, and put both infusion sets and my dexcom in my stomach, I just rotate them so their not in the same spot all the time. My doc said as long as you keep them 3 inches apart, then it will be fine.

Denys- How 'bout the hip, or beneath the bicep?

I would greatly appreciate you guys if you advise me where to apply my sensor because I have pump and apply my infusion set in my belly.

Congrats benter!! I LOVE my dex. I believe sensors came in the starter kit. I'd give them a call and make sure they're on the way. Enjoy!
