For users of a Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitoring ("CGM") device
Just as a reminder with the recent release of the new Dexcom G4 to the US market--it is NOT okay to post about previous models or older sensors as being 'for sale' on this site.
It is a violation of the Terms of Use because it is a prescription device, and any such efforts will unfortunately be removed.
We encourage you to donate supplies to non-profits such as the Charles Ray III Diabetes Association (http://www.cr3diabetes.org), which accepts unexpired glucometer and insulin pump supplies, or alternatively you may talk to your physician's office or other local medical group to discuss donating them to those in need of assistance.
Thank you all for kindly refraining from this activity.

Comment by Piki101 on February 28, 2013 at 11:02am Found a site that sells G4 cases. Not sure it is the ideal case but might be better than the bulky one that it comes with. http://www.tallygear.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=90
Comment by Meda-Kay on February 28, 2013 at 9:24am I just happened to talk to Dexcom yesterday about "skins" for the G4. They don't have any and weren't planning on selling them. However, the girl I talked to said that they have gotten lots of calls from peope asking for them, so maybe they will rethink the decision. She didn't have any time frame when they might, if at all.
Starting my G4 tonight. Does anyone know where to get a rubber 'skin' to use with it like the DEX 7 had? Thanks. Love the smaller size and streamlined appearance.
Comment by Clare on February 6, 2013 at 3:46pm Good information barbraann, I hope never to actually have to use it but I will store it in the back of my mind somewhere in case I ever do need to use it.
Comment by barbraann on February 6, 2013 at 3:38pm Well, I managed to drop my 3 month old G4 into the toilet. FYI- I stuck it in rice overnight but what really did it was placing it in a large box with a hole in one end to fit a hair dryer. Turned it on warm low air and let it circulate around the entire case for a good 8 hours. After a few hours we hit the reset button and it came on! There was some condensation on the screen so we turned the heat to cool and it eventually went away. There's still a funky look to the screen that can only be seen at certain angles but it's working!!! We'll see how long it lasts.
Comment by barbraann on February 1, 2013 at 2:43pm I know, late notice but I'm meeting another T1 adult tomorrow at 11am possible Troy or Rochester MI. More info later and everyone's welcome.
Comment by Natalie ._c- on February 1, 2013 at 10:36am Thank you so much, A.K. It so happens that a T1 who works at a local newspaper is willing to help publicize it, and publicity is what draws in new members. We only have a couple of endos here, but I could see if they would let me post a flyer in their offices -- some are receptive; some aren't. We just need to get it going! :-) <3
Hi Natalie, I just sent you a friend request so that I can send you a private message with contact information and other interesting info I received from the Reno chapter (I called them this morning). To everyone: it IS challenging to start and maintain a support group regardless of age, I've done it in three states I've lived in and the challenges are always the same - what days/times work, what activities, where to meet, how to communicate to members, etc. I'm fortunate to have a JDRF chapter now that has an outreach coordinator so there's someone to assist. But even if your chapter does not have an outreach coordinator (and Reno does not), it is quite likely that your chapter will still help find locations, contact supporters, and might even have a budget to assist with resources such as meetup.com. Anyone interested in learning how we do it is free to contact me through this site.
Comment by barbraann on February 1, 2013 at 7:12am Natalie, I've found that same thing here in Michigan. I have searched high and low for some sort of T1 adult (or at least something for the experienced T1) person and have found nothing! I tried to get some people together for meet ups around this area and it started off good and then fizzled. It's frustrating because I know there's a childrens T1 group who meet regularly.
Just so everyone knows, I'm planning on meeting up with another adult T1 eiter this weekend or next so if your interested, come on by. More info when I get it.
Comment by AlexJ on January 31, 2013 at 7:02pm Barbraann: The information I was given by a Dexcom representative last spring was that they are NOT trying to get MediCare approval at this time. I would love to know that has changed, but I believe it has not. If anyone knows differently, please post.
