Welcome!

Welcome to Diabetes and Sexuality, For Men Only. I will be serving as the group administrator. I am open to any ideas or suggestions for improving the appearance of this group's page, etc.

As for topics that pertain to this group, we need those too. I am still learning about the possible sexual complications that can result from diabetes. Recently my TV has been bombarded by ads informing me that diabetes can cause erectile dysfunction. After joining TuDiabetes, I read a news article that was linked to the site that gave details of the author having trouble ejaculating. And I thought, "I have so much to look forward to."

In any event we need topics, questions, and / or ideas, or this group may be accussed as being "Limp" or "Dysfunctional." For those members that wish to ask a question or present a topic, but still want to remain annonymous, feel free to send me a private message, and I will present the question or topic.

I am hoping you will let me join. I have had penile surgery (1992) and while it provides some satisfaction, it is not a panacea. If I can provide and get some information it will be helpful.

Well I am 31 and went to the doctor b/c of ED in Jan and he said I was diabetic. I said that explains the ED and he said no b/c I had not been a diabetic long enough. He said maybe I had been a diabetic a year..."tops"...so I started exercising and changing my diet and 3 months later two specialists said I don't have diabetes. But yet the ED remains...I think I was diabetic for years and it started attacking my crotch...I am about 6'1 and 160 lbs...never been overweight....but did have the "batchelor's fast food diet" for years. ED rugs don;t seem to work...I am going back to the endocrinologist in a month and will ask him if this theory is possible.

Some sexual aides or "toys" may be in order. I remember reading an article where men who became para-palegics found other ways to satisfy their wives.

Cory, the biggest thing you can do is to really work on communication. When these things happen it can be VERY difficult to talk about them to anyone. So you really need to put forth a extra effort to keep talking to your wife about what's happening. It's one of those things that that come up in life that you'll find are easier to handle if you share your burden.

I've been a diabetic for five yrs and in the lat yr I can't get an erection so I discussed it my Dr. and she said it was my diabetes causeing the problem.I tryed viagra and it didn't help, if I do get an erection it will only last about a couple of minutes.I'm 43 and shouldn't have this problem my wife and I haven't made love in over a year I feel really bad for my wife because I can't make love to her .She says that she understands and says it's ok but I don't belive her .I know she want to make love but I don't really know if she really understands what my problems. So we takl to my Dr. about it and my Dr tryed to explain it to us but I don't think my Dr. really knows how to explain it or she doesn't know, but my wife says she it's ok.I really don't fell like a man if I can;t make love to my wife.Is there anybody in this group can help or give me some advice on how to handle this problem.

I'm getting erections but they seem to be more fleeting. When that isn't happening I also find that it's taking much longer to orgasm if I do at all. I'm so grateful to have a understanding wife.

I don't have any problem rising to the occasion, but let's just say I don't have a strong finish.

I haven't been affected sexually by diabetes yet, but I'm still pretty new to it (diagnosed in June). I just joined this group in the hopes that I can learn how to stave off any sexual effects. I'm too young to have these problems, dammit!

ED saved my life. My wife had tolerated it for almost a year before she demanded it was time to see my doctor. I did so, and found out it was diabetes.

The meds cause me to get really dizzy and disoriented. I'm interested in learning about alternative treatments to oral meds.
