Permalink Reply by Deborah on November 3, 2011 at 4:30pm Hi Deborah, I was not on the pill but on the NuvaRing for years and two weeks after stopping it I had constant lows! I had to lower all my basals and I:C ratios. My endo said that is normal because the decrease in hormones.
Permalink Reply by Ginger Vieira on February 3, 2012 at 4:34am It's actually very common to need slightly MORE insulin when you GO ONTO the pill. So going off of it and having more blood sugars simply implies that you've removed that hormone supply, and therefore removed something that add slightly insulin resistance....and therefore you don't need as much insulin. Reduce your basals if it's a problem, or enjoy the lower BGs if they're helping you keep everything in range!
