TuDiabetes - A Community for People Touched by Diabetes

Hi, wasn wondering if this has happened to any of you-- I stopped menstruating altogether after my last period in early 8/09. My OB had to prescribe me progesterone pills to kickstart it again, but after 5 pills so far, nothing! I'm also awaiting blood test results to see if my hormones are normal or out of whack. Back in 8/09, my husband and I decided to try to concieve a 2nd child and what a coincidence that I stop ovulating/menstruating.. just my luck! Could this in any way be related to diabetes? My OB says if my hormones turn out to be normal, she can prescribe me meds to get me to ovulate and increase chances of pregnancy.

I'm currently on the omnipod and love it! I can finally wear dresses w/o having to stuff the pump in my bra!!

Thanks for any help or comments on this issue!

Denise, are you still taking the progesterone? Normally you take it for 10 (or so) days and then only start bleeding after you finish the progesterone. So if you're still taking it, I wouldn't worry about not bleeding so far. I definitely think it could be related to the diabetes, since it's all the different kinds of hormones controlling everything.

Good luck figuring it all out and getting pregnant again!

Thanks! Yeah, 5 more pills to go, then hopefully the magic will happen.. haha.. (I'm trying to be positive as possible about this, and if humor helps, then yay!)

Actually it did happen to me. I took provera 10 mg for 10 days. It took 3 rounds before my periods finally started coming normal again. My doc said it wasnt blood sugar related. I had a psuedo-pregnancy.

How did he explain what psuedo pregnancy was and what causes it? I didn't know that existed! Wow, because I would feel pregnancy symptoms off and on especially last month 10/09! Crazy!

I had all the typical preg symptoms but wasnt pregnant. My progesterone was low and for whatever reason I had increased levels of prolactin. She suspected it was related an emtremely stressful break up and a reaction to my anti-depressant that caused the higher levels of prolactin. my body literally thought it was pregnant but wasnt. we arent really sure what caused it but I missed 2 periods before I even went to the doc. I really thought I was pregnant
