TuDiabetes - A Community for People Touched by Diabetes

Moments ago, I was standing at the sink doing dishes, fuming about my ridiculously high blood sugar after what I THOUGHT was a small lunch, and I started to sniffle. Then I thought about cooking dinner... I texted my husband first: "I'm so sorry, I don't feel like making dinner tonight. I'm on the verge of tears." He sent back: "It's okay, I don't either. Let's go out." Ah! I love him.
Lately it seems that the older I'm getting, the worse my hormone fluctuations seem to be getting. Last month I was pretty horrid by the time my period started, and this month I'm crying at ovulation. Granted, the full-body acne breakout doesn't help matters...
Has anybody else noticed this happening? I'm not sure what to do.

I can be an emotional mess too... I'm not sure that it's diabetes or anything else... but there are times where I am on the verge of tears all day-- for no good reason!

Sounds like you have a GREAT partner to walk with you :) Thanks something to smile about!

I always remind myself that insulin is a hormone and we have a hormonal imbalance. I'm no doctor but I do think that there is a connection.

I SOOOO THOUGHT I WAS ALONE! It's been a recent thing for me, like the last 6 months...where I could go on some violent rampage...or I could cry for something no one else would think of. I have been wondering if it's D cause I do know that sugars usually go high before that favorite time of the month and and then on and slightly after they supposedly go lower. I feel much better now that i'm not alone. lol

OMG - it's so nice to see someone else is going thru' what I'm starting tho' mine is due to hitting menopause, having my period / mood swings was never a problem for me - but now I feel for the women who used to take time off work, or threaten to chop their husbands heads off due to the mood swing (mine is a sweetie like yours as well - tho' I think the other day he was thinking about getting me a straight jacket - and I thought the same as well - tho' it would be fushia pink with lime green polka dots on it). For me now as well, I'm having probs keeping my BGs up - used to be the reverse where I'd have to give more insulin. Darn hormones! I wrote a blog about it the other day - feel free to read it if you have time (it's short) - http://www.diabetes1.org/blogs/Annas_Blog

I'm like that a week before my period when my blood sugars are high. Then when I'm on my period, I'm a mess because my blood sugars are all over the place ranging low to high and back to low. My diabetes doc tells me it's ok for me, being in a mess during the week and before my period. All diabetic women go through this... My family just grin and bear it during this time. I hope your supper with your husband was wondful! Sometimes that is the best thing to do when you are a mess is to go out to eat with your husband or have a relaxing massage!
