TuDiabetes

I have been told that I need a knee replacement because I have arthritis in every joint in my body, but my right knee is the worst. Although the docs have said it was my decision, they scheduled it for May 11.  I am not the type of person who jumps because a doc says "you must", "you need", unless of course it was life and death.

But that's not my question for discussion.  My question is "who do you listen to about your health issues"?  Do you have a team of professional whom you ask about medical issues that affect you?  Do you ask friends, family, others with diabetes, non-diabetics?  Who do you put your most trust and confidence in, yourself?  Let's talk about it, who makes our health care decisions for us?

Have a great day!

If my dr. makes a suggestion I take it into serious consideration. If they schedule something for you, you have plenty of time (usually) to research it, ask family and friends what they think (if their opinion matters to you) and then decide for yourself. Personally I most often listen to my dr's unless I know someone that has had the same procedure done or is on the same meds the dr. suggested.
Thing of it with asking other people is everything doesn't affect everyone the same. I'd say if you aren't sure about what one dr. says get a second opinion from another dr.
Good Luck!

I get the advice of family and friends, but on every major decision in my life, I pray for guidance and hand over the problem to God. I believe the outcome will be his will if I truly seek him out with my heart, mind, and spirit, and try to listen for his direction, and look for his signs....Sorry if I sound tacky or preachy, but it's my 2 cents. :)

I like to research the conditions on the internet and through books, ask oppinions from friends and people in support groups with the same conditions, medical professionals too and then make my own balanced oppinion from collecting the data.. Noone but me makes my health care decisions.. If you get some well balanced information it can help you to make good choices.
