mistressbinky, if it is heredity I wouldn't know. My mom(bless her, she is deceased) never spoke of such things, Makes me wonder if she even went through menopause but it was another time ..there was no talk about sex, the birds and the bees..menopause? whats that. Still got my period ...sigh,,,, I'm probably peri menopausal? My siblings stopped seeing their period at 45 and 50. So what the heck is wrong with me? 52 and still having it for 5 days monthly!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm 53 and I've been having hot flashes and night sweats for years. I was peri-menopausal for about 4 years. I think I've actually hit menopause because I haven't had my period for a full year. My doctor said it can last 6-7 years. My mother said she had no problem, so did my older sister. My younger sister and I are not so lucky.

I'm in my 60s, 5 years post a very necessary oophrectomy (sp?). A dozen or more hot flashes/day---but that's an improvement. Immediately following surgery, I had the flashes 24 hours/day, every hour on the hour. But there are a lot of variables, including what Mistress B said.

My mom, bless her loving heart, couldn't remember anything about it---I think that's because she had 3 kids all going through their teens at the time!!! LOL....It can be endless---or you can breeze right on through....good luck!

I think it's heredity. If you know when your mother reached menopause that's a clue. I know a fifty-two year old that's pregnant. Be careful (smiles).

Oldsters: How do you take on The System when there was an impropriety the System might consider minor, but which you consider disturbing and the cause of nightmares for 25 years. I need surgery. During the 1984 surgery, my surgeon copped a feel. Don't know what to do.......
