TuDiabetes - A Community for People Touched by Diabetes

Is anyone planning to attend the ADA Expo in San Antonio on June 20th? I'm over 5 hours away (Dallas area), but my husband and I were thinking of making a weekend of it. I was just thinking that it might be worth going if I thought we could plan a TuDiabetes member meet-up!

I didn't know about that one. I may try to attend, depending on the job situation. Too bad they don't have one in the Dallas area.

Mel,
Maybe you can add it as an event in the Events page:
http://tudiabetes.com/events/event/new
and we can feature it to try to get more people to attend.

Melissa,
Would be nice to go and meet up with others from tudiabetes. I'll make arrangements with work to take off. You can count me in.
Keep me in touch or on the board so we can make arrangements. I hope others will attend as well. Thanks for sharing this information. See you, Patti

I think one of the big reasons they have it here is because San Antonio has twice the national average of Type 2 diabetics. I live in San Antonio. I can't tell you how many people ask me questions that I can't answer about their medications etc. I try to explain to them that I am a Type 1 and it's a whole different ball game. They always assume that my diabetes must be "really bad" and that's why I have an insulin pump.

I can absolutely relate to your issues about the pump. Even if they don't say it your face, you can tell by the looks "oh she must have it really bad." I always tell them, nope, actually, I've got it really good!
I even know stupid/crazy dostors that will threaten their patients with 'if you don't shape up, we're going to have to put you on a pump."
I'll have to check into the ADA expo-I love San Antonio.

Any doctor who makes a comment like that should be kicked in the butt. So what does that mean for all of us T1's who are on a pump? That we're just bad diabetics and were punished with a pump??? Actually those of us who have them were blessed,

The ADA show here in San Antonio was very good. I attended the same show in Dallas about three years ago. I guess they alternate locations.
