It will be 27 years this winter. Now that's CrazyTalk. No complications, unless you count my bad attitude. :) I'm looking forward to meeting other folks who've lived through many, many phases with this beast. And have learned that part of being "healthy" is NOT doing everything the doctors say.

17 1/2 years can, under the right circumstances be enough to get a 20 yr Navy retirement....so I ya promise to be good, i'll say welcome.

I am closing in on 30 years myself, and may have been semi-diabetic since I was a teen. I have experienced more than my share of many of the extreemes and now looking at dropping kidney function as well. About the only thing I have avoided so far is DKA coma................

I am a tough olde cookie, been through more hells than I can count, but for the first time in decades I am in great control of my diabetes with MDI so I am on 2 BASAL shots/day and humalog with meals, no spike and dive (crash) now. Just wish I did not have to deal with all these complications!

HI all,
I was diagnosed in Jan. 1964 - and my sister was diagnosed two years earlier (she is 14 years older than me). We certainly have seen a lot of changes in the 45+ years - I use a Minimed 722 and CGMS which have made a remarkable difference for me. My sister has had different challenges than I have and uses a pen and is hyper-sensitive to insulin - I have the other problem.
Glad to hear there are many of you with many years under your belt! Stay strong and keep up the good work!

I am nearing my 35th Year! But I have a plan to be healthier this year than in previous years! lol
Seriously I have improved dramatically in the last 19 months! Stay possitive and Be Well!

Truly, I hate getting old - my "37th anniversary" was in February.

Can I be another imposter with a bride icon, Suzanne? *laughs* I'm "celebrating" 18 years this Thursday. I can't wait two more years to join such a good group. :)

Hi Suzanne:

If it counts I'll vote "yes", but I've been trained to respond by my wife that way ; )
