This group is for those that are experiencing a vomiting cycle that is not gastro-paresis, it is it's own thing, commonly called "Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome". After years, I finally have some answers.

Sorry, it's been a long time since I've been here. The trip to Florida went very well. My doctor provided me with both an anti anxiety med and an opiate. No ER visits in Florida.
I was in the hospital for a short time at the beginning of Aug., but haven't been back. The anti anxiety med is the most effective. I've been taking it three times a day, but have an appointment this month and think the Doc will put me on an extended dose so I only have to take it once a day.
Hope things are going well for you,
Mary Anne I

Comment by Leigh on October 2, 2012 at 3:29pm Hi Mary Anne,
My heart goes out to you. I logged on just now because I had an episode this morning and wanted to see if anyone had written in a while. I don't log on often, I'm a very busy person. But I did want to hear how your trip went, moving your younger daughter to Florida. Did you get the proper meds from your doc? Did they work for you? I'm not familiar with Elavil. I am on a combo of other things. I must look that up.
I hope everyone is doing well!

Comment by Mary Anne Caudill on June 24, 2012 at 5:43am Hello Everyone,
I just now realized that there is a Diabetic CVS discussion here. I've had Type I Diabetes for 12 years and CVS for seven years. I've just now been diagnosed with CVS, after so many years of test after test.
I was actually happy about the diagnosis, because finally something made sense. I journal daily and was told to look back at my journal this year to find causes. Of the 10 episodes in the last year, 7 were caused by anticipatory anxiety. ( I also have a strong history of migraine headaches). So, my doctor tripled the dose of Elavil I was on...(1mg/kg).
The Elavil seems to be working well, I haven't been to the ER in two months. We're now getting ready to move our youngest daughter to Florida to live with her sister, (our oldest daughter). I'm currently anxious about the move, but I'm more anxious about having an episode of CVS while I'm in Florida, and having to go to that ER. Of the 47 hospital admissions I've had in the last seven years, over half of them were while I lived in Florida and went to that ER. I was treated horribly.
My plan is to ask my Doc for a small dose of anti anxiety med, and maybe a small dosage of opiate that I can take other than by mouth. I've read several studies that mention avoiding episodes by stopping it in the prodrome phase. I plan to try and do this while I'm there.
If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to send them to me.
Thank You,
Mary Anne
Comment by Bec on January 20, 2012 at 12:10pm Thanks for starting this group - I'm new to TuD, but not new to CVS. I was diagnosed T1D at 17, but have suffered with CVS since before I was school-aged.
I have been to numerous doctors/specialists over the years - from dieticians to allergy specialists to having tests done (the most recent was in 2009 - I had a gastroscopy).
It was suggested, however, after my last test, that I stop taking my birth control pills - which did help, but it only lasted a few months, and the CVS returned.
I hope everyone in the group is managing well - look forward to meeting you all :)
