i played in the since the 7th grade and now im in college, on my last recital i played the 1st mov. of the prokofiev sonata and it was awesome!

I don't play the flute, but I do play the Clarinet and recorder/alto recorder.
This was at my oldest sisters wedding 4years ago

Hiii Everyone! I haven't played since college, but started playing in the fifth grade...also played piccolo in marching season and oboe in concert season. In college I also spun a rifle for a year.

My absolute favorite song to play on the flute/ piccolo is Sousa's "King Cotton" I can just feel the finger positions just thinking about it. Oh! And I remember getting an open-hole flute with a low b-flat key in the ninth grade...ended up using the plugs as my hands were small and didn't cover the holes too well.

Great memories in those days!

`You know, one of the things I love about TuD is the way things cycle through to the front page. I've been a member since we were at 800 members and I am here a lot, but not timed to catch the start of this group.

I'm 60 years old and haven't played in probably 25 years, but when I hear or see someone playing, I can still feel the fingering in my hand. Isn't that interesting?

As a choreographer, I lived the life of the starving for a decade, during which time, I had to pawn my flute to keep a roof over my head. In the last couple years, I have seriously thought of starting up again. I play the piano, too, and we have a baby grand now (on which I leave bloody prints, if I just tested my BS---Hah!). But I do miss that flute.

I was going to get a clarinet in 3rd grade, but there were too many clarinets, and so to my lasting and unexpected joy, I took up the flute. I got so I could pretty much play anything put in front of me and kept it up for many years, including doing a few original compositions.

Oh, and I do remember taking on the piccolo part in that Sousa march when I was in about 8th grade. Wow---at that point had no idea how much work the piccolo was! Thank the gods I wasn’t a smoker!!

Hi I'm Jenny. I play piccolo in marching band at college and in the spring I play flute in my school's University Band which is an ensemble for those of us who are not music majors. I've been playing flute for about 9 years. My favorite song to play on the flute is Sicilienne from Pelléas et Mélisande by Gabriel Faure. Or Irish music....

Not a current player, but I played for 7 years (elementary through high school). I still have my flute at my parents house and am sometimes tempted to play (when I'm alone of course). I also played piccolo for 2 years in HS and then I played bassoon in high school and for one year in college.
When my friend, whom I met in 5th grade flute class, bought a house last year, she brought her flute out of storage and moved it into her house w/ her!

Hey I'm Katie Jane! I've played the flute for four-ish years and I've had diabetes for almost three years! I think diabetes kind of has to do with flute....I mean, not really, except that it can affect your flute playin! Like the other day I was at All-Region, and I started playing the first etude, and I was playin it like REALLY badly, and I can play it really well! And anyways I started shaking really bad and I got really nervous and everything(bombed it BTW haha) and when I was done, I sat down and tested and I was 313!
