Just wanted to check in with all you moms and see how your summer was going. Its been a busy one for me with having my 2 kids home together all day. Its difficult sometimes because one is 6 and at the age where we can pretty much go anywhere and my other is 3 and doesnt want to go everywhere. I have been handling my blood sugars somewhat better than I expected so far this summer....it really depends on how I eat, I did really well for about 3 weeks straight but I have been getting off the healthy kick a little and I see such a difference. I have also been more active between work, bike riding, and running around with the kids. Hope you all are having a great summer and stay healthy;)

Hi. I am a type 1 mom, but was not diagnosed until my children were 6 and 4 :) Now they are both in middle school, so I am able to do more for myself in the way of exercise...I can leave them home while I run or bike. I do long distances and that seems to be the big challenge-extracting myself from the family long enough to get in a six mile run or a 30 mile bike ride. And, you are right, the husband doesn't always get it. But guys are of the mentality of "solve-the-problem by providing insurance, meds, equipment", so expecting my hubby to get it when I am frustrated or down about it is probably a little to high on the expectation scale:) Summer is more challenging because the kids are in activities and vacations are hard to manage..like you I see a big difference when I don't eat as healthy or get enough sleep. I have learned to relax a little and not be such a perfectionist, but I still want to do well. Good luck and play hard!
