I now have information on when I can get rides - most but not all Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. I'm not much into watching ball games or other sports, though.

:( awww. about FB... but that's ok. Actually we have an event (again, for T1's but we'll welcome anyone) at the Birmingham Barons Game on April 14th. The Barons are playing Huntsville that night and Stacy Mitchell is the contact person for that event. I'm not sure if I can post email addresses here without being banned or whatever, but I'll try... stacymitch @ aol dot com if you want to find out more information or purchase tickets at a reduced rate of $6 per ticket; no limit by April 1 if you're wanting to sit with the group. It's all up to you but we're active through Facebook mostly, although I do try to keep up with TuDiabetes as well. Well if I'm going to get banned from TuDiabetes might as well try to give you my email address: fisherh @ jccal dot org (take out all the spaces on both email addresses of course and substitute dot for an actual . :) )

I'm T2, not T1. Yes, I'm in Huntsville. I do not have a Facebook account.

Hey, I see you are in Huntsville.... there's a T1 group there called the Huntsville Hot Shots; may or may not be on Facebook.

Hey, I like relatives---I have a few of 'em myself. I'd like to say they were D-free but they're not. LOL :) Where are you located? I'd like to do it in Central Jefferson County but if we have more folks geographically situated in other parts of the county then I can certainly drive to meet. Are you T1 or T2 (not that ultimately it matters). I'm just involved with a group called the Bolusers of Birmingham (and you should be able to find them on Facebook) if not, pm me and I'll get you the information. Diabetics of Birmingham is on Facebook as well! It might be a small gathering at first, but my intention is to grow... the Bolusers of B'ham is mainly for T1's but we might have to include T2's as well--to grow and then branch off if we need/want to!

heathersf,

I'm interested but very likely to have transportation problems getting there. I no longer drive, and would have to bring along one of my relatives who still drives but does not have diabetes.

@Nonna2Three Thank you for liking the page! I have added the discussion page for use. Diabetics of Birmingham has only been in existence for a week, so yes it is very new. Scouring the internet for diabetes info, I realized the lack of an on-line community in Birmingham. I also thought it would be a great one-stop resource for everything diabetes. There is a plethora of diabetes information out. I hope to tie up into one pretty bow for us Birmingham folks and that others will add to it.
