Hey metro St. Louis area adult T1's...anyone have a recommendation for a great endocrinologist and/or great internist?? I have been having issues w/ my doc and considering switching. I am looking for a kind, team friendly (meaning me included), doc with concern/experience w/ the pump and preventing longterm complications. I have been diabetic since childhood, but now in my 40's. I am willing to drive just about anywhere in the local area. I live west of St. Louis and have seen docs out at BJ West. Any recs are welcome:)

Hey everyone:) Hope all are well. I am considering taking the trek to Chicago Oct 10 (Sat) = a long weekend...for the FREE celiac screening at U of Chicago Med Center. I posted about it under T1 page a while back (w/ links). My question is....does anyone want to ride up w/ me?? Looking for company and to share expenses (gas, hotel for 1 night). Can email me directly (prsmail@gmail.com) or via Tu. I think it would be great...and fun:) Sharing diabetic stories and seeing Chicago in the fall. I can take 3 people...maybe 4 and have a very fuel efficient car (Scion). Thinking on the cheap maybe $10-15 for hotel and same for gas.

Big "hello" to Jeanne and everyone in St. Louis:) Enjoyed getting to know Jeanne at the Barnes and Nobel get-together last week. She has done so much work on the Blue Arch project...I think we can get it done this year! I put a call into Russ Carnahan's office a few days ago...waiting to hear back. Will keep everyone posted.

I would also suggest that folks interested in healthcare reform issues also attend our get together next Thurs (8/20). Would like to present a coalition of persons w/ diabetes to express our needs in the healthcare reform bill. Their committment to lighting the Arch would show they care about our needs and reaching out to the community...good combination:) Look forward to meeting everyone...maybe I can get a laptop there w/ access that we can communicated w/ others online...those unable to physically attend.

Hey guys:) how is everyone? Anyone interested in getting together in St. Louis and discussing how we can tackle getting the Arch thing going?? I emailed McCaskill's office and did not get any sort of response. Thinking she is having her town halls on healthcare starting next week...could schedule a time to talk w/ her about special needs of folks w/ diabetes//chronic illnesses under the reform plan...AND talk about Nov 14th activities in the metro area. If anyone is interested in pursuing this...let's get together and chat. Used to be an old politico...have some contacts still.
