Hey! I've been a member for awhile now but haven't been actively signing on tudiabetes. Lately I've been yearning to talk and relate with others with diabetes. (I noticed an email from tudiabetes regarding Wilson1926's comment the other day and it reminded me that I am already registered to a "facebook" of diabetics!) So, thanks Michael! lol :)

We had our first STL Dawn Phenom group meeting for diabetics and athletes in the st louis area...and we had 22 people with diabetes and interested in learning more about ways to manage your sugars during exercise. Everybody participated and shared experiences and then listened to some good talks about Dexcom CGM and how Gary Schmidt calculated his insulin and carbs and calories during a half ironmanl...hopefully we will have more athletes at our next meeting

Hi all...yes, Tamara I would be interested in getting together w/ folks. Jeanne and I met back in Oct or so at a bookstore and it was great. Coffee and discussion and trying to "light up the Arch". I am a T1 for 30 years and always learn so much from talking w/ others. If we can set a date and place, I will come:) There is a support group that some of those posting here are part of and I have never been able to make the date...maybe they would be interested as well. Take care! Enjoying the great weather yesterday and today:)

Hi all,
The metro St. Louis group seems a little bit inactive. I would love to get together with some other diabetics (I'm type 1, but type 2 also!!!) for dinner or something. It'd be great to share some stories and get some feedback on all kinds of issues! Anyone up for planning an outing?
By the way, Patricia, I haven't been on this site for a while and didn't see your request for doctor recommendations last October. BUT, if you're still looking for a good endocrinologist, Dr. Janet McGill at Wash U has to be one of the best in the region...if not the country. The only problem is she has kind of limited hours (office hours two days a week, I believe). But, she will do whatever is needed for her patients. She even came down to the ER late one night when I had a severe hypoglycemia incident!

Hey metro St. Louis area adult T1's...anyone have a recommendation for a great endocrinologist and/or great internist?? I have been having issues w/ my doc and considering switching. I am looking for a kind, team friendly (meaning me included), doc with concern/experience w/ the pump and preventing longterm complications. I have been diabetic since childhood, but now in my 40's. I am willing to drive just about anywhere in the local area. I live west of St. Louis and have seen docs out at BJ West. Any recs are welcome:)

Hey everyone:) Hope all are well. I am considering taking the trek to Chicago Oct 10 (Sat) = a long weekend...for the FREE celiac screening at U of Chicago Med Center. I posted about it under T1 page a while back (w/ links). My question is....does anyone want to ride up w/ me?? Looking for company and to share expenses (gas, hotel for 1 night). Can email me directly (prsmail@gmail.com) or via Tu. I think it would be great...and fun:) Sharing diabetic stories and seeing Chicago in the fall. I can take 3 people...maybe 4 and have a very fuel efficient car (Scion). Thinking on the cheap maybe $10-15 for hotel and same for gas.
