well its awful quiet in here now isnt it i was the last one to say any thing and that was 15 days ago.... how is every body doing?

im 21 and i have been smoking since i was 10 how ever im not diabetic my feancee is and hes been smoking as long as i have known him and i met him when he was 13 (hes 2.5 years older than me ) hes now 23(april he will be 24) the esmokes are nice but they tend to die or run out or in my case i stop feeling like im getting the nicotine and at that point (living in a house full of normal cig smokers) i started smoking normal smokes again. though my feancee has issues keeping his bg under control i dont think its because of his smoking

I've been a smoker since I was about 13. I'm now 56. I quit when I was 40 for 9 years but started up again when my husband confessed that he had been a closet smoker for those 9 years when I believed he had quit as well. In November of last year I was visiting an aunt and got up to go outside for a cig and she hands me an E-cig and told me to try that. It was fabulous and when I got home I got online and googled E-cigs, and found the #1 rated brand and ordered a kit. When it arrived fully charged, I still had one pack of real cigs left so I stuck them in the freezer and I have never looked back. I love my E-cigs and don't miss the real ones a bit. No smoke, no smell, no tar or chemicals, just nicotine in a vapor that feels just like you're smoking. Woo Hoo! Love them!

I have smoked cigarettes since i was 5 years old, I stopped for 9 years but chewed nicotine gum all the while I quit smoking. My A1c and blood pressure was high. 4 years ago I picked the habit up again the result astonished me. My A1c has been on a slow but steady decrease, my blood pressure has dropped as well. My doctor took me off of one medication completely and cut my lovastatin in half. My doctor asked me what my secret was, and said "whatever you're doing keep doing it." I told him it was social media like Tudiabetes were as a community we share ideas and research as to what has worked in controlling our disease. I also told him I started smoking again. However, being a diabetic I have learned what may work for one may not work for someone else, and what is helping with controlling my diabetes today may not help tomorrow. I haven't had the opportunity to do hardcore research yet but, at a glance I have noticed that the use of tobacco has dropped in the USA yet cancer rates have continued to rise.

Well let's just start by saying that I have been smoking for 30+ years. I really don't put a whole lot of stock into studies. I have found that when you look closely at them and who is fronting the money to do the work the final report is skewed to one side. I realize that they researchers need money to do their work I just would like them to be upfront with who is funding them. I'm not trying to say that all of them would let the money and future money could their results it just looks bad. Nice rant, I think I need a smoke!

Hey, Doris!!!! Good for you!!! Wrinkles can be reversed... if you have the cash, LOL ;) I've had 5 heart attacks in the past 3 years (I'm 29 years old, BTW >:( ) and NONE of them had to do with smoking... they had to do with the fact that I have a friggin autoimmune disorder and my bod loves to grow scar tissue!!! HA! Put that in your pipe and smoke it, docs!!! >:(

I have done some research on this, but don't know if it's accurate. I've read in multiple places that smoking will raise blood sugars. I've seen this first hand, as there are times when I would be dropping fast and I don't have any quick acting glucose on me, so I'll light up and my BG will level off.

The reason for this is because smoking releases dopomine in the brain. Dopomine will then convert to sugar in the blood stream and make you feel "happy".

Hence, raised BG levels.

I'm a Newport 100 girl, but only do about 3 cigarettes per day. I should just quit, but right now, I don't want to. It's my only vice.
